Krupa is currently working as Junior Research Fellow for a multi-institutional collaborative project for the National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS), National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, India. This project is funded by the Science of Yoga and Meditation scheme under the Dept. of Science & Technology (DST-SATYAM), Govt. of India (since August 2020).

Educational Background:

  1. Master of Science in Yoga Therapy from Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana (SVYASA), Bangalore, India – August 2017 to May 2019
  2. Bachelor of Pharmacy – Mumbai Educational Trust’s Institute of Pharmacy, University of Mumbai, India (2012)

Krupa’s research spans neuroscience, psychology and healthcare. Her current role is to explore how differences in wellbeing are associated with differences in patterns and complexity of EEG activity among yoga practitioners and those who do not practice yoga. She is also studying the cardiovascular dynamics based on ECG and RR tachograms and their relationship with measures of brain complexity during mind-body practices. She is also developing a psychometric tool to assess proficiency of individuals engaging in mind-body practices. As a part of her Masters dissertation, she has also investigated neural correlates of task-induced rumination and their association with meditative states. Overall, Krupa is keen on contributing to refining our present understanding of wellbeing to make it more holistic and eventually, build healthcare systems that are preventative in nature rather than curative.
